The Toyota 2ZZ-GE
The Toyota 2ZZ-GE engine is a 1.8L inline 4 engine. The ZZ series uses a die-cast aluminum engine block with aluminum silicon cylinder liners, and aluminum DOHC cylinder head chain driven camshafts. The 2ZZ-GE uses a different bore and stroke from its predecessor, the 1ZZ-FE.
The 2ZZ-GE is a “square” design optimized for high-RPM power and was chosen by Lotus in 2004 to appear in the new Series 2 Lotus Exige. The engine subsequently then appeared in the Lotus Elise 111R and Elise R and was then supercharged for use in the Elise, Exige and Lotus 2-Eleven.
This 2ZZ-GE is a specialist track-powertrain product. We have built over 100 of these engines and supplied them to many of the leading teams in Lotus Cup championships around the world as well as many track day and race customers throughout Europe and the rest of the world.
Our 2ZZ-GE engines have dozens of race wins and podiums and have won national championships. We can offer full or part built 2ZZ-GE engines, a range of components or provide you with a bespoke engine and electronics package. In conjunction with an HKS Supercharger we can build a 2ZZ-GE to develop up to a genuine 350bhp at the flywheel.
Our in house engine dyno is configured for the 2ZZ-GE and engines are bench run in, calibrated and power tested to allow you to fit and drive on the road or track immediately.

There are three elements to finalising your engine specification
Stage 1 for if you require a standard but new replacement unit
Stage 2 deals with the various options if you want to enhance the specification of your engine with better internal components. This is generally recommended for track and race use but as long as you aren't regularly pushing the engine to it's limits, standard components will be sufficient for fast road and light track use.
Stage 3 is for those who would like to go the extra mile and like a pleasant view when the open the engine cover. We can offer cam cover painting and xylan coating.
